Engaging the community ecosystem where our young peace and human rights promoters live
On December 7, 2025, VIGLOJ organized a one-day training session for parents of children who are members of the youth club of peace and human rights promoters. The event took place in the Kasika neighborhood, Karisimbi commune, in the city of Goma.
This activity is part of the human rights education(HRE) program, which is needs-based and aligned with the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training (2011). The training aimed to strengthen parents' knowledge of human rights and actively involve them in empowering their children as agents of peace and justice within their communities.
Using a participatory and inclusive approach, the session was led by experienced human rights facilitators and combined practical presentations, interactive discussions, and reflective workshops. Parents actively contributed to the development of a community-based framework for collaboration, fostering an environment conducive to the holistic development of children.
This initiative marks a significant step in VIGLOJ's strategy to strengthen families as pillars of sustainable peace.
